How companies manage talent, and what questions do you need to ask them at interview
When making our choices about which companies to join, we have our own criteria such as: location and travel possibilities, working hours and flexibility, pay and reward... but how much thought do we give to our own personal development? Different companies manage talent in different ways - some recruit for potential, others for performance today; some provide structured career development opportunities, others give you the training for today's job as you need it; some have a culture which helps develop people for future roles, others have restrictive line supervisors who want to keep their best performers to help make themselves look good. This workshop provides insight into three different aspects of talent management. It then encourages participants to develop questions for themselves which can help them determine whether a recruiting company is likely to deliver the career opportunities they promise, or a career cul-de-sac.

Ponente: Steve Price is an engineer, Executive Director of the European Institute for Industrial Leadership. After a 20-year career in the chemicals sector, Steve founded the EIIL in 2003 to help its member companies, some of Europe's best-known multi-nationals in the chemicals, plastics, energy and construction sectors, to attract, develop and retain their future leaders. The EIIL runs an annual series of research conferences which explore issues which will face next generation leaders, and a programme of masterclass workshops to help young leaders develop skills to address these issues. Steve is on the Advisory Board of JADE, the European Confederation of Junior Enterprises and is a mentor to the ESN International team in Brussels. The EIIL has a Memorandum of Cooperation with BEST Barcelona for whom Steve is proud to present a skills workshop at their annual Week of Engineering Competition. EIIL's Ent-ex programme to help young leaders develop entrepreneurial skills, has recently celebrated its 5th annual edition in Barcelona with the support of UPC.
